The policy of Cashless Economy has led
to the trend of shopping without cash.
Bank Debit Card (ATM Card), POS and other online methods are some of the
ways you can shop without carrying physical cash.
All these are good development but don’t forget
that Scammers are also ready to dupe you as soon as they are in position of
your personal information.
The following tips will definitely help you
reduce the menace of these scammers:
Connect
Only to Secure Wi-Fi
Don’t be lured by free network connections in
public places, this might be a trap. Do
not use unsecured and un-trusted networks to enter your card pins. It is advisable to use your home and office
connections.
Shield Your Pin
Whenever you are paying for your goods on a POS
either at a supermarket, Bar or Restaurant, ensure that you cover the key pad
of the POS as you enter your pin. This
will help to reduce the likelihood of your pin being compromised by the
attendant or someone standing by.
Be Cautious with “Too Good To Be True” Offers
Scammers are aware that everybody is trying to
get cheap prices. If an offer seems too
cheap for that kind of goods, it is probably a scam. When shopping online, treat all promotional
materials that are not from reputable sources with caution. Also, do not click on suspicious links.
