Wedding! This word
usually scares life out of some people and the reason is not far fetched. They think you must break a bank before you
can give it a trial. Wedding is a day’s
affair so you do not have to go into a lifelong debt to satisfy friends,
colleagues and family members. This article is to provide you some tips that
can help you have a wedding of your dream without going hungry after the
wedding.
1.
Prepare a Detailed Financial Plan and Stick to It: Every project must have
a budget and wedding is not out of it.
This will help you have a realistic picture of all the money you will
need to spend. In addition, you can get
two or three other wedding plan budgets to compare so as to have the best
option. Having a budget is not enoughbut sticking to it no matter the pressure of spending above what you havebudgeted.
2.
Organize A Committee Of Friends: Invite your good
friends, colleagues and Church members who will help to plan your wedding. Make sure you include both male and female in
your committee. You will see that some
of the committee members will be willing to take up some responsibilities. In addition, they will act as waiters,
servers, security etc. This way you will
save a lot of money and at the same time enjoy quality and organized service
that will not tear your pocket.
3.
Have Priorities: Pay particular attention to those things that
are important and necessary to your wedding and go for them according to your
budget. Avoid frivolities no matter how
enticing it may look.
a. Wedding Cake: In many cultures,
cutting the wedding cake is the first task a couple carry out together and as
they feed each other it signifies their readiness to provide for one another. While wedding cake is necessary and important
in every wedding, spending your life savings to have the best of wedding cakes
is out of it. The most important thing
is the presence of a wedding cake no matter the shape, size and cost, so you
must be wise on the amount you spend on it.
b. Wedding Ring: In the book “Beginning Your Marriage”, the
author Father John L. Thomas said “The
bride and groom usually give each other rings in the shape of a circle, symbolizing
that they hope that their love will be without end” Exchange of ring is a
symbol of inward commitment between a bride and her groom, but this does not
mean you have to break a bank to show commitment. The motive of the gift is what matters most.
c. Wedding Gown, Suits and Accessories: Instead of spending so
much to buy these, opt for rental. There
are so many wedding shops out there where you can get every accessory you will
need for your wedding at a ridiculously low amount. Another advantage of renting wedding
accessories is that you will get more beautiful things that you would not have
been able to buy if you had wanted to buy your accessories.
d. Photographs and Video
Coverage:
Make good provision for an expert Photographer and video coverage for
the event but instruct your photographer to capture only important and
necessary clips so as to cut cost. Taking
pictures and video of wedding program is necessary because it gives brilliant
image of the occasion and serves as a file copy of the event. As time goes on when the memories of the
ceremony fade away, you can always go back to your pictures and watch your
videos and it will give you good memories of what happened that day. Make sure you go for quality so that the
materials will last long.
e. Food and Drinks: These are two expenses you cannot avoid but
you should remember that your guests are only entitled to what you give to
them. Nobody will kill you if you give
what you have and there is no law that says you must cook ten different types
of meals and present every variety of drink because you want to wed. So the money you spend on these necessary
items really depends on your choice.
Present one or two variety of quality and healthy foods and drinks.
Instead of hiring big and expensive
caterers, organize local caterers as most of them truly cook well. Engage your
relatives to do the supervising and sharing so that you can bring your food to
the event. They will be glad to do it
free for you.
f. Venue: This also is very important because you must
keep your guests in a in a good environment.
Instead of paying heavily to rent a Hall, make use of free venues like
Church compounds and Halls. Also plan
your wedding during the dry periods so as to take advantage of open spaces
which you can get free of charge or pay little money.
g. Music:
This is equally important because it adds glamour to the
ceremony. Instead of hiring a live band,
go for a good DJ. This gives room for
variety of songs and costs less. Before
the day, make a list of goods songs and hand it over to the DJ to play. You will find out you and your guests will
enjoy the day.
I hope this will help in your plan of having a good wedding.
