If you are following most popular news agencies like the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), CNN even
local Television Stations, you will discover that the world is becoming more
and more violent. Most countries of the
world are engulfed by wars, terrorism, militancy and other violent
activities. This has indeed created a
wide gap between peaceful and violent countries.
Recently, the
World Peace and Economic Development Organization which publishes Annual Global Peace Index
Report studied the levels of violence across the world and their findings are
as follows:
Top 10 Most
Violent Countries
Afghanistan
Central African Republic
Congo DR
Pakistan
Somalia
South Sudan
Sudan
Syria
Iraq
North Korea
Top 10 Most
Peaceful Countries
Australia
Austria
Canada
Czech
Republic
Denmar
Finland
Iceland
Japan
Newzealand
Switzerland
My little
analysis of this report shows that countries from Africa formed half of the
most violent countries and no African country is found among the most peaceful
countries. Can we now say there is no
country in Africa that is peaceful and what was the benchmark of this selection?
This also calls
for the attention of all African leaders to rise up to the occasion and reed
violence out of all African Countries.
